Mary-Stewart wanted to be an architect from the time she was seven years old and could manipulate a ruler to draw floor plans and elevations. But career paths are often circuitous, and hers included the international clinical division of Merck & Co. Inc.; a Middle Eastern division of The Chase Manhattan Bank; and several financial product divisions for Shearson Lehman Brothers. While with SLB as an Assistant Vice President of National Marketing, she was, oddly enough, given project management for working with the architects on the design of their offices on the 102nd floor of the World Trade Center (the height of her career) "and as close to architecture as I would ever get in the financial industry". Eventually Mary-Stewart traded the corporate world of entrepreneurship in the form of Manhattan's residential real estate. Every day was a new floor plan - she finally found her path.
